The English technology entrepreneur has launchedneillock.dev, a site covering his companies and software and, for the first time, his account of living and working with ADHD and autism. Lock has spent more than 25 years in software, SEO, hosting, automation and artificial intelligence. He is the founder of Zinn Digital, Zinn Hub and pbn.ltd. Those businesses host more than 700,000 websites.
“Being neurodivergent is my superpower. I see life in code, not the way most people see it,” he says.
He is careful with the claim. He does not argue that ADHD or autism makes someone better at technology. He describes a way of working that fits some problems and fights others.
If a system does not make sense, he pulls it apart. That habit started early, on computers including the Commodore 64 and the ZX Spectrum, and it became the method. In SEO, which he has worked in since the early days of Google, it means patents, tests and patterns rather than accepted tactics. In software, it means staying with a problem until the parts fit. “I’ve always been obsessed with understanding how things work,” he says. “If something doesn’t make sense to me, I need to pull it apart and understand what’s happening underneath.”
When a subject catches him, he can disappear into it. “When I’m interested in something, I can become completely absorbed in it.” He says the work sometimes continues after he has stopped. “I often wake up with the answer already there. Sometimes I see it in a dream.”
The companies sit on that habit. Zinn Digital is AI-first hosting and SEO, published in 58 languages.is an AI hosting platform built for SEOs. Zinn Hub, the freelance marketplace he co-founded with his wife, Natalie Lock, runs in 46 languages. Buyers pay no platform fee, and sellers keep 100% of their first $500. Around those sit the tools he has built for other people’s sites. Tranzly and Zinn Translate handle multilingual WordPress sites. Page Builder Sandwich is a visual page builder aimed at SEO and WooCommerce. Zinn Chat is live chat with an AI agent that answers from a site’s own pages. Zinn Cache is a page and object cache. He still builds a lot of it himself. “I like to be at the front of my own businesses, not hiding in the shadows while other people do the work. I would rather be the one who explains how something works, and helps people understand it.”
The same traits cut the other way. Deep focus makes interruptions expensive. Switching tasks quickly is hard. A conventional job, built on constant context-switching, was a poor fit. Running his own companies let him shape the day around how he thinks. He also describes a less useful side: answering before he has thought, and agreeing to things he should have refused. He says he has had to learn to slow down, and to talk bigger decisions through with his wife, Natalie, first.
The public account is new. The work is not. For Lock, the point of saying it now is practical. The characteristics that make some rooms difficult do not have to rule out the work. They do decide which room is worth staying in.
